“We found the source of this statement to be a larger, spontaneous statement about how the war is going that the president specifically attacked Poland,” explained the foreign minister.
Sikorski noted that Poland “has done more than any other country.”
“Poland is a country on the front line in this war. We are the only EU and NATO country whose neighbors Russia and Ukraine understand that we must also stop Putin,” the minister assured.
He said “we have our own defense needs” and added that the Polish government “must keep this war as far away from our borders as possible.”
He also commented on the appeal of members of the US House of Representatives to President Joe Biden with a request to allow Poland to shoot down Russian missiles over Ukraine.
“Poland will make a decision with NATO. The decision has not been made yet,” said the head of the Polish Foreign Ministry.
Earlier, the Polish Foreign Ministry assured that the remaining MiG-29 aircraft would be transferred to Ukraine from Poland, and at first Warsaw wanted to see a corresponding replacement from the allies.
