In Serbia, in the city of Novi Sad, part of the outer roof of the train station collapsed. At least eight people were killed, Nova TV reported on Friday, November 1.
Interior Minister Ivica Dacic arrived at the scene of the tragedy. According to him, two people were injured, and they were trying to get two more from the ruins.
Eyewitnesses said that when the roof collapsed, many people were sitting on benches under it. Therefore, the number of victims is likely to increase.
Ambulances and dozens of rescuers are at the scene in Novi Sad. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has left for the city.
It is known that the railway station in Novi Sad was opened in July 2024 after the reconstruction, which was carried out by a Chinese contractor. However, construction was still ongoing on some parts of the station at the time of the collapse.
