A presidential candidate is seeking nearly $10 billion in damages after reporters allegedly cut up his rival’s “word salad.”
US presidential candidate Donald Trump on Thursday, October 31, sued CBS over an interview with his rival Kamala Harris. According to Trump’s lawsuit, the interview misled viewers, Reuters reports.
It is noted that the complaint, filed in the federal court for the Northern District of Texas, alleges that the channel showed two different answers from Harris to a question about the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
The version that aired on 60 Minutes on Oct. 6 did not include what the lawsuit calls a “word salad” response from Harris about the Biden administration’s influence on Israel’s conduct of the war.
Trump is asking for a jury trial and about $10 billion in damages. The lawsuit alleges violations of Texas law prohibiting deceptive business practices.
Before that, Trump repeatedly attacked the network during the election’s ordeal in this episode and threatened to revoke CBS’s broadcast license if elected. CBS said Trump pulled out of a scheduled 60 Minutes interview.
Harris has previously called Trump a “fascist” who seeks “unchecked power” and a military loyal to him personally.
