The future European Commissioner for Defense will prepare the EU for “the most extreme military development.”
Andrius Kubilius, nominated for the post of European Union Commissioner for Defense, believes that Europe must be prepared for any military aggression – and he will be involved in this preparation in his post.
Kubilius emphasized that Muscovy, which launched an unprovoked war of aggression against Ukraine, is redirecting its own economy onto a war footing. This circumstance requires the consolidation of efforts and political initiative of the European community.
In his opinion, Europe currently needs to take more steps to increase defense production.
Previously, Kubilius also said that Russia is really building a military economy, and this requires a very clear political initiative from the EU.
The fragmentation of European defense makes the entire EU weaker than we would all like to see.
He convinced that the Ukrainian military-industrial complex must be quickly integrated into the European defense industry, and Europe must take care of defending itself with its own hands.
The EU can provide added security value both to member countries and to NATO itself because we have capabilities that NATO does not have. Ukraine probably has the most powerful military capabilities among European democracies.
Russia, which can control Ukraine, will forever remain an empire,” Kubilius said.
