A scientist who worked for the military-industrial complex of the Russian Federation was detained in Kharkov. He turned out to be a 72-year-old mechanical scientist who, at the request of the Russians, developed a blueprint for improving Shahed-type kamikaze drones. In particular, he worked on the modernization of engines and installation of ejection. The SBU reported this on October 30.
It is noted that the defendant has far transferred technological developments to his friend, the general director of one of the Russian machine-building plants that produces units for drones.
Since 2023, this enterprise has been closely cooperating with a Russian company engaged in the production of attack drones of the Shahed type, branded by the Russians under the name Geran-2.
To communicate with Russian accomplices, the Kharkov resident used email and a popular messenger. At the same time, he hid cooperation with the invaders under the guise of preparing scientific work in the field of UAVs.
According to the investigation, the scientist involved his former student in design work, who fled from the Kharkov region to the Russian Federation at the beginning of a full-scale war. There he got a job at Moscow Technological University, where he developed drones for the Russian armed forces.
The defendant was detained at his residence. During the searches, computer equipment, a mobile phone and flash drives containing evidence of subversive activities in favor of the Russian Federation were confiscated from him.
The detainee is informed of the suspicion of aiding the aggressor state. He is in custody. He faces 12 years in prison with confiscation of assets.
It also plans to report the suspicion in absentia to an accomplice of the defendant – a former student of a Kharkov university who is hiding in Russia.
We remind you that four agents of the Russian special services who were correcting enemy attacks in the Donetsk region were detained. The defendants tried to reconnoiter and send to the aggressor the coordinates of the combat positions of the Defense Forces in the directions of Liman, Kramatorsk and Slavyansk.
Earlier, a UN volunteer was detained in the Donetsk region, who became an agent of the Russian FSB and spied on the defenders of Pokrovsk.
