The head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, during his visit to the United States on October 29, met with White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan.
On the Telegram network, Ermak said:
We talked about the Victory Plan for Ukraine, the implementation of the peace formula, the front, weapons and military of the DPRK, which Russia is preparing for war against our state. Military assistance to Ukraine, sanctions against Russia, increased pressure on Moscow’s allies—this is important.
Ermak’s press service published two photos of two officials hugging.
At the time of publication of the news, the White House did not comment on the meeting between Ermak and Sullivan.
The visit of the head of the presidential office comes against the backdrop of reports of the arrival of North Korean soldiers in the Kursk region of Russia.
The Pentagon said Washington, Kyiv and allies are closely monitoring developments, and the United States remains committed to supporting and increasing the security of assistance to Ukraine. The involvement of North Korean troops in Russian aggression against Ukraine will be discussed, in particular, by US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin in Washington with South Korean Defense Minister Kim Yong Hyun on Wednesday.
Communication between the United States and Ukraine is hampered by the attempts of Yermak and Zelensky to speak English during negotiations, Frankfurter Allgemeine reports.
When negotiating with Americans, they often speak English on their own, not through translators.
However, Zelensky’s English is only mediocre, while Ermak’s is downright bad. Consequently, Americans are often not sure whether they correctly understand the two leading politicians of Ukraine when they contact them directly, the publication notes.
At the same time, US representatives cannot assess whether their own explanations were correctly understood by the Ukrainian side.
