The European Union is introducing additional tariffs of up to 35.3% on electric cars from China.
This was reported by the AFP news agency. Previously, Chancellor Olaf Scholz spoke out against the introduction of such duties.
German manufacturers such as BMW, Mercedes and VW have also clearly criticized such an initiative, as the companies consider punitive tariffs to be the wrong approach that will not improve the competitiveness of the European auto industry.
China has already responded by increasing tariffs on European spirits to 39%. This was the first safety shot, especially against France.
The EU wants to protect European industry through tariffs. However, European models assembled in China will also suffer from the innovation. Among them, the Romanian Dacia Spring is the cheapest electric car on the market, priced from 16 thousand 900 euros.
