Kostin decided to resign from his post amid scandals related to abuses in the field of disability registration for prosecutors.
President Vladimir Zelensky asked the Verkhovna Rada to approve the dismissal of Andrei Kostin from the post of prosecutor general. This is stated in draft resolution No. 12153.
The corresponding draft resolution No. 12153 was registered in the Verkhovna Rada on Monday, October 28.
Let’s remember that the other day Andrei Kostin decided to resign from his position amid scandals related to abuses in the field of disability registration for prosecutors.
“I consider the position of the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky absolutely correct that not only should all illegal decisions on granting disabilities, corresponding pensions and other accruals be canceled, not only should there be a clear legislative and organizational changes, but also personal responsibility, including political responsibility,” Kostin said.
According to him, investigations are ongoing at all levels in the state and criminal proceedings are being investigated.
“Many shameful facts of abuse have been established in the system of the prosecutor’s office of Ukraine,” Kostin admitted.
He believes that not only the illegal decisions of the medical and social expert commissions (MSEC) and pensions should be abolished, but also personal political responsibility.
“I am grateful to the President of Ukraine and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for their trust. But in this situation, I think it is right to announce my dismissal from the position of prosecutor general,” Kostin concluded.
We remind you that Zelensky held a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council, where they reviewed the situation at MSEC and abuses by officials of various government bodies resulting in disability. At the meeting, a list of decisions was determined “to restore justice.” The President has approved them through the corresponding order.
