Former President Donald Trump’s ally J.D. Vance, who is a candidate for the post of US vice president, refused to call Russian dictator Vladimir Putin an enemy.
The American senator considers him an “adversary” and a “competitor.” Vance also called for diplomatic negotiations with the Russian Federation. He stated this in an interview with NBC News.
I think he’s obviously an adversary. He’s a competitor. I think we also need to be smart about diplomacy. Just because we don’t like someone, it doesn’t mean we can’t have a conversation with him from time to time,” Vance said in response to the presenter’s question about whether he considers Putin an ally or an enemy.
He also stressed that to end the war in Ukraine, it will be necessary to conduct negotiations between Ukraine, Russia and NATO allies in Europe.
Let us recall that in July of this year, the Republican Party Convention officially nominated Donald Trump as a candidate for US President. Then Trump announced that he had chosen Senator J.D. Vance, a supporter of American isolationism and an opponent of aid to Ukraine, as his vice presidential candidate.
