Funds allocated by the Swedish government will be used to ensure access to heat and electricity, distribution of food, hygiene products, medicines and water.
The Swedish government has agreed to provide Ukraine with a new humanitarian aid package worth 110 million kroner ($10.4 million). The funds are used to meet more needs before the winter season. This was reported by the Swedish government’s press service on Sunday, October 27.
“Russia has targeted civilian infrastructure and deprived Ukraine of a significant part of its heat and electricity supplies, of course, the colder, the more serious the consequences. That is why the government decided to allocate 110 million crowns to a number of humanitarian organizations in Ukraine,” said Minister of Foreign Development and Foreign Trade Benjamin Dusa.
The aid was divided among four organizations.
The Ukrainian Red Cross will receive 50 million crowns ($4.7 million), UNDP – 30 million crowns ($2.8 million), UNHCR – 20 million crowns ($1.8 million), UN Population Fund – 10 million crowns (over 941 thousand dollars).
Funds allocated by the Swedish government will be used to ensure access to heat and electricity, distribution of food, hygiene products, medicines and water.
Earlier, the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky thanked Sweden for the decision to provide our state with a military aid package worth more than $445 million.
Let’s recall that in May Sweden allocated the 16th package of military aid to Ukraine. This is still a record – 13.3 billion crowns (more than 1.1 billion euros). For the first time, the package includes two ASC 890 radar reconnaissance and control aircraft.
Overall, since the start of the Russian invasion in February 2022, Sweden has provided Ukraine with military aid totaling 48.1 billion kroner (almost 4.2 billion euros).
