Their opposition “does not have the dignity to accept another defeat,” Kobakhidze said.
Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said the country’s government will be confirmed, despite the opposition’s refusal to recognize the results of the parliamentary elections. This was reported by the Echo of the Caucasus on Sunday, October 27.
Commenting on the opposition’s statements about the “stolen election”, Kobakhidze said that they “don’t have the dignity to accept another defeat.”
“All these years, they did not receive the election results, to accept their defeat with dignity.
Kobakhidze emphasized that “any attempt to challenge the constitutional structure is unacceptable.”
“It must be emphasized again that in this case, a number of NGOs, together with political, radical parties, have opposed the constitutional system of this country for the third time in four years, a desperate attempt to at least justify themselves to their own voters,” summed up the Prime Minister of Georgia.
In the latest preliminary results from the Central Election Commission, the ruling Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia party received 54.273% in the parliamentary elections.
Georgian opposition political forces have already declared that they do not recognize the results of the country’s elections and have announced protests.
The elections in Georgia are called historic because their result may indicate either the future integration of the state with the EU or rapprochement with Russia. Correspondent.net wrote in detail about the pre-election situation in Georgia.
