The tradition of summer and winter in Ukraine has been in effect since the time of the USSR, starting in 1981. The main reasons are to save electricity and extend daylight.
Let’s recall that on July 16, the Verkhovna Rada generally supported the bill on the calculation of time in Ukraine, which provides for the abolition of the transition from summer to winter in Ukraine and vice versa.
There have been discussions about changing the clocks for years. Critics of daylight saving time say leaving it in would cause the sun to rise an extra hour on summer nights when everyone is still asleep. Those against the elders say that in winter they have to get up after dark.
According to media reports, President Vladimir Zelensky has no plans to sign a bill abolishing the seasonal change of clocks.
