INTERVIEW – Singer, author, actress, designer, she handles eclecticism with delicacy and enthusiasm. Concerned about the environment, he teamed up with Galeries Lafayette for an eco-responsible fashion project.
Sensitive to the vintage vibe, Louis Doillon has created a twin collection paying homage to the 1950s, a sweater and cardigan in 100% recycled cashmere. While waiting for a show at Bouffes du Nord in Paris.
Madame Figaro . – My inspirations for these twins.
Lou Doillon.– The idea came to me as a tribute to Brigitte Bardot, especially in the film A warrior’s rest. As a person who is quite skimpy and disorganized in life, I was very attracted to creating a fitting and structured outfit.

What appeals to me about 1950s fashion?
I really love vintage and spend a lot of time in thrift stores, but I never fit into 1950s clothes, I’m too tall, I have no waist, almost no hips, and being fashion is my life doesn’t fit either in those years. This codification of women (heels, stockings, earrings, etc.) is far from me, but it makes me dream. That’s why I wanted to get closer by imagining a twin set in my size.
Vintage clothing that I treasure.
There are many of them. There are family transmissions: clothes from my family, from my mother, from my father, from my sisters, from my grandfather’s coat… I like to wear pieces from a previous life, or homemade pieces. I found an absolutely sublime little red Mexican-inspired jacket at a flea market in California that was, of course, hand-stitched.
My latest eco-friendly gesture?
I live partly in the countryside where I have compost, a vegetable garden, a rainwater tank and photovoltaic panels. I try to leave as few footprints as possible, because it’s the least I can do to recycle, to not buy plastic bottles anymore… To make the usual effort, in short.

My next ecological challenge.
Keep asking myself about ecology in my work. Music is dematerialized, but I like vinyls that are physical, and so I think about new production methods; create more eco-friendly recordings, maybe visualize more things on demand… These are thoughts that appeal to me.
A message I want to convey to the younger generation of fashionistas.
I don’t like positions of authority or morals, and I assume everyone is doing the best they can. So I would say. Be yourself.
A green designer who inspires me.
Stella McCartney, who does a crazy job from scratch and creates fashion that is both beautiful and trendy.

My current state of mind ?
I am preparing a musical show for the Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord, I am trying to be as acoustic as possible.
Who is the greenest? child or me?
Laszlo, the youngest, is too young to pop the question. The big guy is paying attention to that, and I’m proud of that. They are more informed than we were in childhood.
A subject that throws me off my hinges.
The idea of not believing in ecology seems completely implausible to me and obviously absurd.

Are you talking about me being promoted, out?
If all goes well, I’ll avoid promotion because I’m lucky enough to have a job that allows me to say what I need to say in my job. The object reacts normally to everything without me being present. This is ideal!
