In the past, the cost of energy was determined by the supplier himself at the stage of concluding an agreement with the State Logistics Operator.
The Ministry of Defense has established requirements for the calorie content of the main products supplied for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The press service of the department reported this on Saturday, October 26.
It was noted that this decision was the result of inspections of military units, where deficiencies were identified, including cases of supply of products with low calorie content.
As Deputy Defense Minister Dmitry Klimenkov said, in war conditions, the physical and psychological stress on military personnel is very high. Therefore, it is especially important that food products fully meet their nutritional and energy needs.
“Establishing clear requirements for the energy value of products is not only a matter of standards, but of ensuring that our defenders have what they need to maintain combat readiness and health,” he emphasized.
It is expected that the procurement agency of the Ministry of Defense State Logistics Operator will start using these requirements as an annex to government contracts (agreements) for the purchase of food products, which will take effect from the beginning of 2025.
In the past, the cost of energy was determined by the supplier himself at the stage of concluding a contract for DOT.
The new standards are set out in the document “Requirements for the energy value of some food products in the catalog of food products, the indicators of which are determined by state standards.”
We previously reported about a scandal that arose over inedible canned food for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Journalists found that a batch of stewed pork, which was supposed to be supplied to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, turned out to be an inappropriate mixture of skin, tendons and fatty tissue.
