The Israeli military attacked Iran’s missile production and air defense systems, the IDF said.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) completed nighttime airstrikes against military targets in Iran. The corresponding statement was issued by the official representative of the Israeli army, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, on the morning of Saturday, October 26.
“I can now confirm that we have completed preparations for Israel’s response to Iranian attacks. We have carried out targeted and precise strikes against Iranian military targets, preventing immediate threat to the State of Israel,” he said.
Khagari added that the military is obligated to respond if Iran makes a mistake and starts another round of escalation.
He also said that all those who threaten the State of Israel and all who seek to drag the region into a wider escalation will pay a heavy price and the IDF “showed today that we have both the ability and the willingness to act with certain in both attack and defence.”
According to Khagari, precision strikes were carried out on targets in different areas of Iran.
“These include the missile production facilities that Iran used in its attacks on Israel last year. At the same time, we targeted Iran’s surface-to-air missile teams and Iran’s air assets, intended to limit Israel’s freedom of air operations in Iran, now Israel has more freedom of air operations in Iran,” concluded the rear admiral.
In this regard, The Times of Israel reported that dozens of aircraft, including fighters, tankers and reconnaissance aircraft, simultaneously took part in the strikes at a distance of approximately 1,600 kilometers from Israel. They all successfully returned to base.
Meanwhile, Iranian state media, citing the air defense command, wrote that Iran “successfully resisted” the Israeli attack, but suffered “limited damage.” Military targets were attacked in Tehran, Khuzestan and Ilam provinces.
We remind you that this evening the Israel Defense Forces carried out the long-declared retaliation against Iran. Military targets were attacked.
At the same time, on October 24, the media wrote that Israel seems to have postponed the attacks on Iran due to the leak of information from the Pentagon that is said to be assessing the plans of the IDF.
Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the plan was to strike Iran’s military targets, not its nuclear or oil facilities.
