The Russian army has almost certainly advanced into the mining town of Selidovo.
Neither the Ukrainian Armed Forces nor the Russian army completely controls this settlement. fighting is likely to continue in the city center. Selidovo is the last major urban area covering the southern flank of Pokrovsk, as well as the E50 highway connecting Selidovo with Pokrovsk. The UK Ministry of Defense announced this on the social network X.
The British note that since the beginning of October 2024, the pace of advance of the invaders to Pokrovsk has slowed down significantly. The Russians remain approximately 7 km from the city.
Recently, the enemy command directed resources to the southern part of the Axis, targeting Selidovo and partially encircling the city. In London they believe that the enemy wants to use the E50 highway as a secondary route to Pokrovsk if they occupy Selidovo.
Let us remind you that on October 22, the Russians, following a powerful artillery barrage, began large-scale offensive operations in the Selidovo area and even entered the city.
Ukrainian journalist Andrey Tsaplienko reported that Ukrainian defenders did everything possible to dislodge the enemies from Selidov. The military understands that the likely loss of a settlement will create the threat of the loss of Pokrovsk in the near future.
