Ukrainian intelligence reported that the first units of North Korean troops were discovered the previous day in the combat zone of Russia’s Kursk region.
The European Union is deeply alarmed by reports of North Korean troops sent by Pyongyang to join Russia’s war against Ukraine. The EU’s High Representative for Foreign Policy, Josep Borrell, said this on Thursday, October 24, Radio Liberty wrote.
According to him, such participation is a serious violation of international law.
“This is a unilateral hostile action by the DPRK that has serious consequences for European and international peace and security. This event also shows once again how Russia is spreading instability and escalation in the region and around the world, ” Borrell said in a statement.
He added that the EU condemned the military cooperation between North Korea and Russia and called on Pyongyang to stop supporting the Russian war against Ukraine.
He also called this cooperation a sign that, despite statements about its readiness for negotiations, Moscow “is not interested in a just, complete and lasting peace.”
“North Korea’s continued support for Russia’s aggressive war against Ukraine illustrates how close European security is to the security of the Indian-Pacific region. The European Union will engage with international partners on this issue,” summed up the head of the foreign policy service bloc.
We remind you that according to the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Kirill Budanov, today the first soldiers of the DPRK will arrive in the Kursk region to take part in the war against Ukraine.
