Near the border with Hungary, border guards of the Mukachevo detachment rescued a 29-year-old resident of the Ivano-Frankivsk region, who, while trying to illegally cross the border, got lost and almost drowned in a swamp.
The press service of the State Emergency Service reported this today, October 14.
It is noted that the man himself called the State Border Service hotline and stated that he wanted to surrender to the border guards.
As it turned out, he got lost in a swampy area and could not get out on his own. Based on the coordinates provided by the violator, the border guards found out that he was located in the area of responsibility of the department of border service inspectors “Goronglab,” the State Tax Service said.
Soon the response team found the man – he jumped into the Charonda canal and was unable to get out of the swampy area on his own.
Border guards removed the offender from the water. He was taken to the border unit, provided with dry clothing and given the opportunity to dry his shoes and personal belongings. Now the man will have to answer in court for attempting to illegally cross the state border of Ukraine, the department summarized.
