Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has no plans to sign a law that would abolish the seasonal clock change.
On the night of Sunday, October 28, Ukraine will switch to winter time. Citizens will need to move the clock hand back an hour. Ukraine should have remained on winter time, because the Verkhovna Rada adopted a corresponding bill in July. This was reported by BBC News Ukraine.
This draft law was sent to Zelensky for signature back in August. However, the head of state has not yet agreed on the bill. An anonymous source from the president’s team claims that there will never be a signature on this law, and the deadline for vetoing it has already expired.
Another interlocutor said that the bill to abolish the seasonal change of clocks was opposed by the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk. However, the document was not vetoed so as not to offend it. However, the bill will remain unsigned.
Let us remind you that on July 16, the Verkhovna Rada in the second reading adopted bill No. 4201 on the abolition of the time change in Ukraine from winter to summer. It stipulates that in 2024, on the last Sunday of October, Ukraine will switch to winter time and there will be no further switch to summer time from 2025.
