Such rumors are useful to those who want to give the false impression that Ukraine’s accession does not have broad support among Alliance members.
Information in the media that says seven countries are against inviting Ukraine to NATO does not correspond to the truth. This was stated in the commentary of the press secretary of the Presidential Office, Seria Nikiforova, Ukrainskaya Pravda reported on Thursday, October 24.
“The information in the media that seven countries are against inviting Ukraine to NATO is not true. These rumors are useful to those who want to create the false impression that Ukraine’s accession does not have broad support among the members of the Alliance. In fact, the idea of inviting Ukraine is supported by the absolute majority of member countries, and active advocacy work is underway for others,” said Nikiforov.
He recalled that inviting Ukraine to NATO was the first point of the Victory Plan and a reliable path to a just and lasting peace.
“Vladimir Zelensky presented the Plan to international partners, the Ukrainian parliament and community, representatives of the media and civil society and is consolidating their efforts to bring Ukraine’s invitation to NATO closer,” added the OP press secretary .
Earlier, Politico reported that seven NATO countries were allegedly opposed to inviting Ukraine. In addition to the USA, Germany, Hungary and Slovakia, three more “non-obvious” countries will contest Ukraine’s invitation.
Meanwhile, the French newspaper Le Monde reported last week that US authorities are no longer opposed to inviting Ukraine to NATO.
And President Vladimir Zelensky said Germany has softened its skepticism about Ukraine joining NATO.
