A 63-year-old Italian man lost his memory of the last 39 years of his life after a traffic accident, thinking he was still young and living in the 1980s.
Rome resident Luciano d’Adamo woke up from a coma caused by a road accident in 2019, having lost the memories of the last 39 years of his life.
According to RAI, the man is convinced that he is 24 years old and lived in the 1980s.
When he woke up, he didn’t recognize his wife or his son. When he and his wife first met, he believed that his mother had visited him. “He called me ‘Luciano’ and I wondered how he knew my name,” he recalled. When his 35-year-old son spoke to him, the man could not understand how this man became his son.
When Luciano saw his reflection in the mirror, he didn’t recognize himself and started screaming in shock. Only after the doctors’ explanations did he realize that he had an accident in 2019, and not in 1980, as he thought, due to a head injury.
Now, with the help of his family and psychologists, Luciano is trying to get his life back together and rebuild his relationship with his wife. However, this process is difficult: the man does not recognize many of his acquaintances and friends.
It was previously reported that Madonna admitted that she had been in a coma for two days. This happened when he was hospitalized due to a bacterial infection.
