According to the State Statistics Service, as of January 1, 2023, there are more than 2.7 million people with disabilities in Ukraine. This is 6.6% of the total population.
More than 230 thousand people received disabilities in Ukraine in 2023. This was discussed in the documents of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, on Monday, October 21, writes NV.
As noted in the ministry, most of the disabled are men. There were 138.1 thousand of them Also, 92.5 thousand women received a similar status.
50.2 thousand people under the age of 39, as well as 105.8 thousand people from 40 to 60 years old, are recognized as disabled people. 74.7 thousand pensioners received the corresponding certificate, of which 41.6 thousand were women 60+ years old and 33 thousand were men.
The most common cause of disability last year was general illness – 126.3 thousand cases.
Among military personnel, 5.8 thousand people are recognized as disabled.
Almost 2.5 thousand people became disabled as a result of an accident at work or an occupational disease. Another 10.6 thousand people were recognized as disabled people from childhood, and 2.2 thousand were recognized as disabled people as a result of the Chernobyl accident.
The Ministry of Health also reported that 254,000 people were re-identified as persons with disabilities in those revised by medical and social expert commissions.
The publication draws attention to the large number of children with disabilities. Last year, 158.9 thousand minors were recognized in the country.
“The child’s disability is also the basis for obtaining a postponement from mobilization and travel abroad, and it is processed more carefully,” said Roman Likhachev, a military lawyer and attorney at the Veterans Support Center.
The most common causes of disability in children are: congenital anomalies (developmental defects), deformations and chromosomal abnormalities (43 thousand children); mental and behavioral disorders (35.4 thousand); diseases of the central nervous system (22.7 thousand) and endocrine diseases, nutritional disorders, metabolic disorders (16.7 thousand).
Earlier, Zelensky appointed a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council on the situation with medical and social expert commissions and registration of false disabilities.
We remind you that Prosecutor General Andrei Kostin announced the first results of an audit on the procurement of disability by prosecutors. An official investigation showed that 61 prosecutors in the Khmelnytsky region were disabled, and 80% of them received it before the start of the entire raid.
It was also reported that the head of MSEC in the Khmelnitsky region and his relatives were found to have $6 million in cash and many other assets during the searches. The media found out that we are talking about Tatyana Krupa, who is a representative from the Servant of the People in the Khmelnitsky Regional Council.
