North Korean special operations forces regularly conduct covert missions against South Korea. It is not yet clear what their role will be in the war in Ukraine.

North Korean authorities have sent their special unit, the DPRK Special Operations Forces, to Russia for the war against Ukraine. The Telegraph wrote this on Saturday, October 19.

These forces are used for reconnaissance and testing of South Korea’s defense capabilities. North Korea’s SOF, founded in 1968, is best known for its failed attempt to attack the Blue House, the residence of the South Korean president.

“North Korea’s special operations forces are one of the most secretive units of their kind in the world and a mystery to Western states, appearing to be loyal and well-trained but lacking in advanced military equipment. ,” the newspaper wrote.

The Telegraph notes that it is not yet clear what role non-Russian-speaking special forces will play on Ukraine’s eastern front, which has gradually turned into a war of attrition – hardly a traditional arena for covert missions. .

Let’s remember that the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, speaking in Brussels, announced 10 thousand military personnel from the DPRK, who are likely to be involved in the war.

The head of GUR Budanov says that about 11 thousand North Korean infantrymen are now undergoing combat training in eastern Russia and will be sent to combat positions on November 1.

A video has surfaced of North Korean soldiers equipped with Russian equipment.
