The terrorist group has admitted the death of its leader Yahya Sinwar. The truth of the killing of the leader of Hamas was confirmed by a study of DNA samples.
Hamas is likely to be led by Khalil al-Hayya, who now lives in Qatar. Bloomberg wrote this on Friday, October 18.
He is currently leading the delegation to negotiate an internationally brokered ceasefire with Israel, as well as overseeing the group’s official meetings with its foreign allies.
“He will be the successor of Hamas leader Yaha Sinwar, who was killed by Israel,” the journalists wrote.
Al-Hayya is said to have made a televised speech declaring that he was taking the leadership role, albeit on an interim basis.
“He promised that Israel’s killing of Sinwar would motivate him to continue the fight,” Bloomberg said.
Addressing Israelis in a speech, he said the captives “will not return to you until the attack on Gaza stops.”
“Israel must withdraw from Gaza and Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails must be released,” he said.
Al-Hayya also emphasized that Hamas will go further towards the creation of a Palestinian state “in the entire territory of Palestine with its capital in Jerusalem.”
Sinwar has been the leader of the radical group since August 2024, after the head of the Hamas Politburo, Ismail Haniyeh, was fired in Tehran on July 31.
The previous day, the IDF confirmed that Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar had been killed in the Gaza Strip. He is considered the main organizer and ideologist of the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.
The Israeli military also showed the last minutes of the Hamas leader’s life.
