It was indicated that 382 bodies of soldiers who died in the Avdeevsky direction were returned, 56 – from Bakhmutsky, 45 – from Maryinsky, six – from Ugledarsky, four – from Zaporozhye, seven more – from Lugansk. A body was also recovered from a morgue in the Russian Federation.
The repatriation was carried out thanks to the efforts of the Coordination Headquarters, SBU, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Office of the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other structures of the Security and Defense Sector. of Ukraine.
The headquarters also expressed gratitude to the International Committee of the Red Cross for assistance in repatriation.
The bodies of the defenders will be taken to the appropriate government agencies for identification by law enforcement agencies and forensic experts. After this, the dead will be given to their families for a dignified burial.
At the same time, the Ukrainian state project I Want to Find reported that 89 bodies of dead Russian military personnel were returned to the Russian Federation.
“These are the bodies and remains found by Ukrainian search teams in the Kursk region, as well as in the area of the Ukrainian settlements of Terny, Makeevka, Krasnogorovka, Orlovka, Nevskoye and Yampol,” the statement said.
Ukraine and Russia regularly exchange military bodies. The last time such an exchange took place was on August 2. Then they managed to return the bodies of 250 defenders. During two years of work, it is possible to bring home the bodies of nearly 4,000 Ukrainian soldiers.
