Ukraine gets access to funding from EU candidate countries in the amount of 2 billion euros per year, as well as access to European institutions.
Obtaining the status of a candidate member of the European Union allows you to start integration with European institutions, and also opens up access to funding. In an interview with Lb.ua, Prime Minister Denys Shmygal spoke about the advantages of the status quo.
In particular, Ukraine at the level of official bodies and individuals is gaining access to the institutions of the European Commission and is beginning to work with it.
Also, Ukraine is gaining access to financing of EU candidates. For the next seven years, more than 14 billion euros of support for candidate countries, or 2 billion euros for each state, have been promised.
But one of the main advantages of the status that Shmyhal called the tools of pre -entry assistance – technical support for the development of rural areas and other industries.
“In addition, we will have access to the European Union Solidarity Fund … What does this mean? -Candidates from covid consequences,” the prime minister added.
On June 23, the European Council granted Ukraine the status of a candidate for EU membership. This decision was fully supported by all EU leaders during the summit in Brussels.
The opening of negotiation procedures for Ukraine’s membership in the EU is expected early next year. The expected date for Ukraine’s entry into the European Union is 2029.
