The Israel Defense Forces and the Israeli intelligence service Shin Bet confirm information that Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar may have been killed as a result of a military operation in the Gaza Strip. The IDF press service reported this on Telegram on Thursday, October 17.
According to the military, three terrorists were killed. Currently, security forces are checking whether Sinvar is among those liquidated. The identity of the deceased has not been determined. No sign of the hostages was found in the building where they were located.
At the end of September, reports of Sinwar’s death appeared, but the IDF neither confirmed nor denied the information.
On October 7, 2023, Hamas terrorists attacked Israel. Israel is currently continuing its retaliatory operation against the group.
Let’s remember that on July 31, the former leader of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, was killed in the capital of Iran. Tehran immediately blamed Israel for the attack and vowed retaliation.
Subsequently, it was learned that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had removed the head of the Gaza Strip government, Ravhi Mushtah.
Also, the Palestinian militant group Hamas said its leader in Lebanon, Fateh Sherif Abu al-Amin, was killed along with several members of his family during an Israeli strike in the south of the country.
