Military counterintelligence of the Security Service detained in the Donetsk region a 22-year-old operator of unmanned systems of one of the combat brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which holds the defense in the Kramatorsk direction.
He “leaked” the location of his unit to the enemy during the battles during the Yar. The SBU press center reported this today, October 15.
According to the investigation:
- in 2023, the contract soldier was remotely recruited by a career FSB officer, Dmitry Pavlovich Sorokoletov;
- the traitor “leaked” to the enemy intelligence service the locations of his UAV unit, which was engaged in adjusting fire on the Vremya Yar fighters attacking. The Russian invaders planned to use this information to attack the positions of Ukrainian drone pilots who were preventing the Russians from breaking through into the city;
- the agent also tried to convey to the FSB the coordinates of other units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the area of Vremenny Yar.
Military counterintelligence officers of the SBU exposed the traitor in advance and, thanks to this, prevented enemy attacks on the locations of Ukrainian troops, the SBU said. — After documenting the criminal actions, the Russian agent was detained.
It is noted that the defendant came to the attention of the occupiers because of his pro-Kremlin comments in Russian Telegram channels, where he supported the Russian war against Ukraine. During the searches, his mobile phones were confiscated red-handed.
Based on the collected materials, Security Service investigators informed him of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state betrayal committed under martial law), the SBU said. — The attacker is in custody. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
