In Ukraine, yesterday, October 14, in all regions, the email addresses of state authorities, local governments and other objects received anonymous letters about the mining of their buildings.
The police responded to all these addresses – all messages turned out to be erroneous, the press service of the National Police reports.
It is noted that:
- the vast majority of them came from Russian IP addresses;
- more than 2 thousand worked. calls, mainly information about mining of administrative buildings;
- In fact, for knowingly false reports about a threat to the safety of citizens, criminal proceedings were initiated under Art. 259 of the Criminal Code, which provides for liability in the form of imprisonment for up to eight years.
Such messages are the signature of the Russian special services, with which they are waging a hybrid war against Ukraine, trying to influence mass panic and exhaust the system of government and law enforcement agencies, the police note.
The police note that back in 2022, an Algorithm was developed and approved for the response of police bodies and units to mass messages about a bomb threat, which significantly increased the role of the operational component, in particular the use of cyber police units and criminal analysis, when processing such messages.
The police forces and resources are sufficient to ensure the implementation of all appropriate security measures in such cases, the police note.
