Russia and North Korea signed the agreement in June. The agreement will enter into force after it is ratified by both parties.
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin submitted to the Russian State Duma a project to ratify the agreement on a “comprehensive strategic partnership” between the Russian Federation and North Korea. RosSMI reported this on Monday, October 14.
Russia and the DPRK signed an agreement on June 19, 2024. According to a document published by North Korea’s Central News Agency, the two sides agreed to provide each other with “military and other” help if one of them comes under “armed attack.”
Also, among other things, as the document says, in case sanctions are imposed against Moscow or Pyongyang, “the parties make practical efforts to reduce the risks, eliminate or reduce the direct and indirect effect of such measures on mutual economic ties, individuals or legal entities or their property.”
The signatories of the agreement must also “take steps to limit the dissemination of information that a third party could use to introduce and escalate such (sanctions – ed.) measures.”
The explanatory note to the bill states that both sides strive to establish global strategic stability and a fair international multipolar system.
Let’s recall that on Monday, President Vladimir Zelensky said that Ukrainian intelligence has data indicating North Korea’s participation in the war against Ukraine on the side of Russia.
