An An-3 AK Borus light multipurpose aircraft crashed in Russian Yakutia in the Olekminsky district on Sunday, October 13. As a result of the plane crash, one of the passengers died. The Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) reported this on Telegram.
The department indicated that the aircraft made an “emergency landing” 1.5 kilometers from the city of Olekminsk.
“There were five people on board the plane, including three crew members and two passengers,” the statement said.
According to Russian media, the plane was flying from Olekminsk to Zheleznogorsk.
The initial cause of the crash was said to be engine failure, after which the pilot “decided to make an emergency landing at the departure airport,” but was unable to fly, and the An-3 AK crashed near Olekminsk.
The Russian press wrote that the passengers on the plane may have been contractors of a gold mining company.
