The defense forces partially regained their positions, but the Russians are again sending columns to attack, Andrei Kovalenko said.
Active fighting continues in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation. Now we should not make hasty conclusions, because the situation is changing rapidly. This was announced by the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Andrey Kovalenko on Telegram on Saturday, October 12.
“Active fighting continues in the Kursk region After the Defense Forces partially restored the positions where the Russians entered, they began to send columns to attack again,” he wrote.
According to Kovalenko, combat operations in this sector of the front are dynamic, and maneuvers occur mostly in wooded areas.
“There are many dynamics, so it is important not to settle on any conclusions as final. Battles are difficult, the situation is constantly changing, Russian military officials, by the way, usually try to dry up the subject, because everything is not working out the way they wanted,” he added.
As you know, in early August, the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched an offensive in the Kursk region and took control of more than 1,300 square meters. km of territory and about 100 settlements. Subsequently, the Russians launched a counter-offensive and drove back part of the territory.
The previous day, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported that Russian troops advanced on the main Ukrainian salient in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation.
