A fire on a fuel oil tanker in the Baltic has been extinguished

To put out the fire on the Annika, three ships with water cannons were used simultaneously. 120 people fought the fire.

Rescuers extinguished the fire aboard the German tanker Annika with a cargo of fuel oil. ZDF television reported this on the morning of Saturday, October 12.

Three ships with water cannons were deployed to put out the fire. 120 people fought the fire. After the fire was extinguished, the tanker was towed to the city of Rostock.

According to the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Ministry of the Environment, there was no water pollution in the Baltic Sea as a result of the incident.

A day before it was known that there was a fire on board the Annika. There was an explosion in the tanker, followed by a thick cloud of smoke. The reasons for the incident have not yet been clarified. Rescue services evacuated seven crew members from the ship.

Earlier in the Russian city of Arkhangelsk there was a huge fire on the cruise ship MV Lomonosov.
