In the Chernivtsi region, law enforcement officials detained the director of the Khotynsky National Natural Park for a bribe of 65 thousand dollars. The Office of the Prosecutor General announced this on Friday, October 11.
The investigation revealed that the official was making money by illegally leasing the lands of the natural reserve fund. And he covered his illegal actions with imaginary cooperation agreements, for the conclusion of which he demanded bribes from businessmen.
“Law enforcement officials detained the officer in his office after receiving $65,000. For these funds, he leased three plots of land with an area of 0.48 hectares to the businessman for the development of a recreation center,” said of the report.
The director is informed of the suspicion of receiving illegal benefits (Part 4 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Currently, he has been selected as a preventive measure in the form of detention with the alternative of posting 2 million hryvnia bail.
Earlier it was reported that in the Odessa region, a deputy of the Belgorod-Dnestrovsky district council was exposed, who asked for 20 thousand dollars from a businessman for help in solving the “land issue.”
