The meeting was supposed to be a signal of support for Kyiv. Also, at this meeting, Ukraine should present the Victory Plan to its allies.
A new date for the meeting of the Contact Group on the Defense of Ukraine has not yet been determined. Pentagon Speaker Pat Ryder spoke about this on Thursday, October 10, in a briefing for media representatives.
“I can’t tell you the new date and location yet. We’re working on it, and, of course, as soon as we decide, we’ll definitely let you know,” said the Pentagon spokesman.
He added that active work is now underway, which traditionally takes place between Contact Group meetings.
“It involves coalitions working through their co-chairs to identify, develop and deliver capabilities to Ukrainians for both short-term and long-term defense needs. The Contact Group meeting is by no means the only mechanism where we support Ukraine,” the spokesperson added.
It is known that the meeting scheduled for Saturday, October 12, has been postponed due to the inability of US President Joe Biden to attend. The American leader was forced to stay in the United States because of a storm that hit the east coast of the country.
Following Russia’s massive invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the US rallied its allies, creating a group that currently has around 50 members. Group meetings take place in the German city of Ramstein.
The meeting in the Ramstein format will not take place on October 12. The meeting of the leaders of the US, UK, France and Germany has also been postponed.
