Russia’s leadership is preparing the country’s economy for “special measures.” In particular, businesses of all forms of ownership will be prohibited from refusing government orders, and workers may be forced to work at night and on holidays.
Russian authorities are preparing the country’s economy to support the army in the so -called “special operation”. This was announced on Friday, July 1, by the Institute for the Study of War ISW.
It was noted that the Kremlin, probably preparing for a long war with Ukraine, is creating conditions for the support of its army of the Russian economy.
Thus, the State Duma of the Russian Federation introduced an amendment to the federal laws on support for the armed forces of the Russian Federation, providing for the introduction of “special measures in the economic sphere”, which oblige Russian businesses (regardless of their form of ownership.) to support Russian so-called “special and anti-terrorist operations.”
The amendment would prevent Russian businesses from refusing to accept government orders for special military operations and would allow the Kremlin to change workers ’contracts and working conditions, such as forcing workers. to work at night or on public holidays.
In describing the amendment, the Kremlin noted that the so-called “special military operation” underway in Ukraine revealed a shortage of supplies, including materials needed to repair military equipment, and officials said of Russia that needs to “focus their efforts on certain sectors of the economy.”
In addition, Russian authorities are likely to take steps to include the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant (NPP) in Russia’s energy system, contradicting Russia’s previous statements that the Zaporizhzhya NPP will sell electricity to Ukraine .
The ISW also appreciates the Russian army’s attempts to surround Lisichansk. The invaders continued their attempts to surround the city, but achieved no success.
