Wednesday’s conversation between the two political leaders was their first public conversation since August.
US President Joe Biden spoke on the phone with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. These were the first talks between the leaders in two months amid the worsening situation in the Middle East. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre announced this in a briefing on Wednesday, October 9.
“It was straightforward. It was productive. They discussed several issues,” said Karine Jean-Pierre.
He noted that Biden and Netanyahu discussed the confrontation with Iran.
The conversation between the leaders lasted 30 minutes. Karine Jean-Pierre did not provide any other details, only promising that the details of the call will be published as soon as possible on the White House website.
Vice President Kamala Harris joined the call.
It was earlier reported that Israel canceled a meeting scheduled for Wednesday between Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant promised that Israel’s response to the Iranian missile attack would be “deadly, precise and unexpected.”
