Law enforcement officials have identified the platoon commander of the Airborne Forces of the Russian Army who opened fire on unarmed local residents in Bucha, Kyiv region. The Office of the Prosecutor General reported this on Wednesday, October 9.
Currently, the suspicion has been identified and reported to the platoon commander of the 3rd airborne company of the 1st battalion tactical group of the 234th airborne assault regiment of the 76th airborne division of the Airborne Forces of the Russian Army.
He was charged with committing a violation of the laws and customs of war, including premeditated murder and an attempt to commit the same crime.
In March 2022, during the occupation of the city of Bucha, a platoon commander saw two local residents cooking food on a fire near one of the houses. Without warning, the Russian military opened fire from automatic small arms in their direction.
“One civilian died on the spot from gunshot wounds, and another was injured – he fell, managed to crawl through the entrance of the house and escape,” the report said.
They clarified that they were civilians who did not participate in the armed confrontation. They do not have any weapons, instruments or means that can justify the use of violence against them.
