German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said he understands US President Joe Biden’s decision to postpone his state visit to Germany, but expects it to be rescheduled.
As you know, Biden’s visit on October 12 was supposed to be the first state visit of a US president to Germany in 40 years. In addition, the US President was supposed to take part in the Ramstein meeting with the participation of top officials of the anti-Putin coalition.
The White House announced on October 8 that the visit was being postponed due to the severity of Hurricane Milton.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, following Biden, also canceled the Ramstein visit to Germany.
Today Scholz said he was ready for talks with Putin if they would help achieve a “just and sustainable peace.” Reuters writes that during the next Ramstein, Russia will be signaled that it should not hope for a decrease in support for Kyiv, while at the same time Ukraine will receive a message “that support is powerful and long-lasting.”
