The body of former mayoral candidate Dmitry Shevchik was found near Krivoy Rog.
Police are on the scene, law enforcement officials told LIGA.net. According to the Krivoy Rog publication VOI, Shevchik could have shot himself. LIGA.net’s interlocutor did not comment on this version.
Shevchik was the former general director of the Central Mining and Processing Plant (TsGOK) of the Metinvest group. He ran for mayor of Krivoy Rog in 2020 from the Servant of the People party, but lost to Konstantin Pavlov, who was also found dead in August 20121.
According to Svoi. Krivoy Rog,” Shevchik’s body was found at a camp site in the village of Kudashevka.
Previously, he could have ended his life with the Saiga hunting rifle, registered in his name (the rifle was found nearby).
