The theft of tens of millions of hryvnia in the Dnieper City Council was exposed by law enforcement officers.
The SBU and the National Police exposed a scheme to steal funds from the Dnieper budget, which caused the state damage of at least 34 million UAH. The attackers made money from advertising on social networks, and these millions were embezzled by three owners of local advertising agencies, acting in collaboration with city council officials. This was reported by the press center of the Security Service of Ukraine.
The deal was that tenders for SMM, advertising and coverage of the activities of the Dnieper City Council were won by “their own entrepreneurs.” Thus, businessmen embezzled almost a third of the total amount of 123 million UAH, which the City Council allocated for its own popularization during 2021-2023.
It also turned out that tenders were won at inflated prices by entrepreneurs unrelated to advertising services. To achieve this, officials entered false information into the documentation. After the deal, the attackers divided the money among themselves.
Law enforcement officers reported suspicion to a dozen intruders under Parts 1 and 2 of Art. 255 (creation, management of a criminal community or criminal organization, as well as participation in it) and Part 4 of Art. 28, part 5 art. 191 (misappropriation, embezzlement of property or taking possession of it through abuse of official position on an especially large scale, committed by a criminal organization) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Let us remind you that recently in Ukraine, for the first time, a reward was paid to an exposer of corruption. The whistleblower turned out to be an active serviceman; in 2021, he filed a complaint with the NAPC and reported that he was offered a bribe of 24 million UAH.
