On October 7, the Verkhovna Rada registered a new resolution to exclude fugitive deputies from two committees.
The authors propose to exclude Andrei Odarchenko from the Anti-Corruption Committee.
Artem Dmitruk should be excluded from the law enforcement committee.
Among the authors of the resolution are three people’s deputies from the Servant of the People.
Odarchenko case
People’s Deputy from the Servant of the People faction Andrei Odarchenko, accused of corruption, illegally crossed the border with Romania. This was reported by the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine.
According to preliminary data from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), Odarchenko crossed the border with Romania on September 17 near the village of Krasnoilsk, Chernivtsi region of Ukraine, on the border with the Romanian city of Vicovo de Sus, Suceava County.
According to the prosecutor, on September 19, the driver Odarchenko said that two days earlier the people’s deputy asked to blow him up in the central part of the city. Andrei Odarchenko gave the driver his mobile phones, asked to charge them and said that he would return to Kyiv himself. Since then, the driver has not seen Odarchenko and does not know how to contact him.
It is reported that Odarchenko did not arrange a business trip to travel abroad.
In November 2023, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP) and NABU informed Odarchenko of suspicion of corruption. According to investigators, the people’s deputy tried to bribe the head of the State Agency for Reconstruction and Infrastructure Development, Mustafa Nayem, by offering him a bribe in bitcoins.
The deputy planned to receive money from the fund for liquidating the consequences of Russian aggression to repair the buildings of the Kharkov State University of Food Technologies and Trade, of which he was the dean. The bribe amounted to about 8% of the contract amount, according to the indictment sent to the court.
The court set Odarchenko bail in the amount of 15 million UAH (363 thousand dollars), which the deputy paid. After the escape, SAP initiated the recovery of this amount to the state and put Odarchenko on the wanted list.
Dmitruk case
People’s Deputy Artem Dmitruk, who fled from Ukraine, voted online at a meeting of the Rada’s law enforcement committee.
Bihus.Info journalists learned from sources that the people’s deputy joined the online voting. The Committee considered, in particular, a new version of the bill on an agreement with the investigation.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the National Police, NABU, SAP, as well as the Office of the Prosecutor General – it was this body that previously announced suspicion to Dmitry.
In Ukraine, Dmitruk is suspected of attacking a law enforcement officer and a military man. After he fled to Britain, he was put on the international wanted list and arrested in absentia; the prosecutor’s office is preparing documents for extradition.
