The driver of an Opel car drove down the road and hit pedestrians – two girls.
In the village of Novaya Basan, Nezhinsky district, an Opel car hit two girls, 12 and 13 years old, who were walking on the side of the road. Both children died, the National Police Department of the Chernihiv region reported on Monday, October 7.
The fatal accident was reported yesterday around 8:00 pm.
“The police determined that the driver of an Opel car, moving along Shevchenko Street in the village of Novaya Basan in the direction of the center of the village, near the intersection with Polonsky Street, drove off the road and hit pedestrians – two girls aged 12 and 13, moving on the right side of the road towards a car.
The police detained the driver of the vehicle. The car was caught. The driver was known to be sober.
Based on the fact of the accident, proceedings were opened under an article on the violation of road safety rules, which resulted in the death of several people (Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The driver faces imprisonment for five to ten years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.
We remind you that two days ago in Varas district of Rivne region, two people were killed, including a 16-year-old boy, in a collision between a Mazda car and a minibus. Four other people were injured.
