Guterres, in particular, called on the Palestinian group to allow Red Cross workers to visit the hostages.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called for peace in the Middle East ahead of the anniversary of the Hamas attack on Israel. He revealed this on Platform X on Sunday, October 6.
“Today, the world community must condemn in the strongest terms the heinous actions of Hamas, including the hostage-taking in Israel,” he said.
Guterres called on the Palestinian group to allow Red Cross workers to visit the hostages.

At the same time, Guterres still expressed concern that the military conflict with Israel “continues to destroy lives and cause profound human suffering to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, and now to the people of Lebanon.”
We remind you that the United States of America will send additional troops to the Middle East amid the escalation of Israel and the Lebanese group Hezbollah.
On October 1, the Israeli army announced the start of a ground operation in southern Lebanon. According to the IDF, the military began several hours ago raids against targets and infrastructure of the Hezbollah group.
