More than 33.5 thousand pilgrims have already arrived in Uman to celebrate the Jewish New Year – Rosh Hashanah.
The head of the Cherkasy OVA, Igor Taburets, spoke about this today, October 2, on the air of one of the Ukrainian TV channels.
According to him, the situation is under control, no significant violations have been recorded, services are working in an enhanced mode.
At the same time, there is a slight decrease in the number of pilgrims.
Last year we received a little more than 35 thousand pilgrims. Today we see a decrease, although the date of their next New Year suggested that there would be more pilgrims participating this year, he noted.
Celebrations of the 5785th Jewish New Year begin from the evening of October 2 to the evening of October 4.
After this, Shabbat will come, therefore, there will be Yom Tov for three days in a row, when Jews are prohibited from doing any work, including traveling long distances, notes the Telegram channel of the United Jewish Community of Ukraine.
