UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will remain a stain on the history of this international organization, the Israeli Foreign Ministry said.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres was declared persona non grata in Israel. The corresponding statement was released by Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz on the social network X on Wednesday, October 2.
“Today I declare UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres persona non grata in Israel and ban him from entering the country,” the official wrote.
According to Katz, anyone who does not unequivocally condemn Iran’s attack on Israel, as almost every country in the world has done, is not fit to set foot on Israeli soil.
“This is a Secretary General who has not yet condemned the massacre and sexual atrocities committed by Hamas killers on October 7, 2023, or led any effort to call them a terrorist organization. A Secretary General who supports terrorists , rapists and murderers of Hamas and now Iran – the family of global terror – will remain a stain on the history of the UN,” said the head of the Foreign Ministry.
Katz assured that Israel will continue to protect its citizens and uphold its national dignity with or without Antonio Guterres.
Let’s remember that on October 1, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres condemned the “expansion of conflict in the Middle East” and called for a ceasefire. This happened against the backdrop of a massive Iranian missile attack on Israel, organized by Tehran in response to Israel’s operation against the Lebanese Hezbollah. Guterres’ statement was very simple and consisted of only two short sentences.
