NATO allies want to see a greater response from the United States in the face of the Russian threat.
Washington must act to counter the Kremlin’s actions around the world. This was said by former US Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker at the Warsaw Security Forum, reports Ukrinform.
“What I see is that Russia has a strategy – and not only in relation to Ukraine, to attack it and try to occupy it. It has a strategy of threatening or changing governments both in the Caucasus and in South-Eastern Europe – in non-member countries of NATO, as well as some of the NATO members,” the official said.
He emphasized that the Alliance countries want a more active US response in the face of threats from Russia. In particular, Poland and Romania are discussing the need to protect their airspace.
Volker also emphasized that many countries of the Alliance emphasize the need to accept Ukraine into NATO and provide it with the necessary weapons, “because we need to send a strong signal to Putin.”
“Whether Harris or Trump is president, we must restore the ideology of internationalism, strive for proactive American leadership aimed at advancing our interests in the world,” he added.
As reported, Czech President Petr Pavel said that Ukraine’s entry into the North Atlantic Alliance should not depend on restoring full control over its entire territory.
