The European Union can help Ukraine pay pensions to citizens who have received temporary protection status in EU countries. This was reported by the Ministry of Social Policy.
Minister Marina Lazebna visited Brussels, where she discussed social security issues of refugees with the head of the European Parliament Committee on Employment and Social Affairs Dragos Pislaru.
At the meeting, the issue of pensions for refugees from Ukraine who worked in European countries was raised. The European Union and Ukraine can jointly pay pensions for such people even without bilateral agreements.
The parties also specified how seniority would be considered and how countries would pay.
Marina Lazebna also noted the need to maintain the social guarantees provided by EU member states to displaced Ukrainians as part of temporary protection, including whether people temporarily return to Ukraine to resolve personal matters. .
Marina Lazebnaya and Dragos Pislaru agreed to jointly make a list of necessary changes to EU regulation, as well as EU law on tax issues.
According to the UN, the number of refugees from Ukraine who have received temporary protection status in European countries has reached 3.407 million. Several million more citizens are abroad without refugee status.
And according to the European Union, since the start of the war, more than 5.7 million people have left Ukraine, of which more than 2.8 million have returned home.
