Mishustin’s visit to Iran was particularly focused on the development of trade and economic relations between the two countries.
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin arrived in Tehran on September 30 to meet with various Iranian officials with the aim of promoting Russian-Iranian economic cooperation. This is stated in a report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
Mishustin met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and said he expected Russia and Iran to sign a proposed comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement at the upcoming BRICS summit in Kazan, Tatarstan, to be held from October 22 to 24.
The Russian Prime Minister also met with Iran’s First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref to discuss the possibility of Russian investment in “various areas” in Iran, and, in particular, met with Iran’s Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad.
Ambassador of Iran and Russia Kazem Jalali said that Mishustin’s visit to Iran was especially focused on developing trade and economic relations between the two countries.
ISW experts believe that “Russian and Iranian officials probably view increased economic and financial cooperation as a necessary part of an overall strengthening of Russian-Iranian relations.”
Earlier it was reported that the President of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian will attend the summit of the BRICS interstate association, which will be held in the Russian Federation, and will meet with the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
Let’s remember that the military cooperation between Moscow and Tehran continues to deepen, and Iran remains the main partner of the Russian Federation in the war in Ukraine.
