In Austria, voting in the parliamentary election ended on September 29. According to unofficial preliminary results, the right-wing populist Freedom Party of Austria, led by Herbert Kickl, will win. This was reported by DW on Sunday, September 29.

The ruling conservative Austrian People’s Party, led by Chancellor Karl Nehammer, won around 26%, according to the Foresight polling institute. While the Social Democratic Party of Austria gained the support of approximately 20% of the electorate. In turn, the party of New Austria and Liberal Forum and the Greens have less than 9%.
The FPÖ became the first far-right force to win the election since World War II. Leader Herbert Kickl has repeatedly opposed the provision of military aid to Ukraine and has also criticized sanctions against the Russian Federation.
